Written beneath a crucifix

You who are crying, come to this God,
for He cries
You who are suffering, come to Him, for you He will regenerate
You who are trembling, come to Him, for you He will advocate
You who are passing, come to Him, for He abides

Victor Hugo, Les contemplations,
Autrefois, March 1842

The Bible is the Word of God. It is an inexhaustible mine of exhortation, consolation, love, and explanations on all aspects of both spiritual and everyday life. Here is what the Bible has to say about:

Love

·         1 Corinthians 13: 4   Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;  5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;  6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;  7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8   Love never fails.

Fear

·         Isaiah 43:1b… “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. 3 For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

Worries

·         Philippians 4: 6   Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Death

·         Psalm 23: 4a Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;

Contentment

·         1 Timothy 6: 6   Now godliness with contentment is great gain.  7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Peace

·         Isaiah 26: 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.

Joy

·         Nehemiah 8: 10c …for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Friendship

·         Proverbs 17: 17 A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.

Compassion

·         Romans 12: 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

Disappointment

·         Proverbs 14: 13  Even in laughter the heart may sorrow, And the end of mirth may be grief.

Respect

·         1 Peter 2: 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

False appearances

·         Proverbs 14: 12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

Eternal life

·        John 11: 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
